| The company, originally a manufacturer of specialist road tankers, began to diversify from the early 1970's onwards, using the skills of its engineers and workforce to develop a range of intermodal tank containers for the carriage of bulk liquids. |
| By the early '90's these new products had completely supplanted road-barrel manufacture at Burscough, with UBH International becoming one of the World's leading manufacturers of tank containers. |
|
By 1998 the company was producing in excess of 1,800 units per annum, almost 15% of world tank container production. |
| Following a management and employee buyout in August 1999, UBH International became an employee owned company, and began to re-focus its activities, moving away from standard tank containers to concentrate on building the more specialised custom built units increasingly demanded by end-users. |
| UBH International enjoys a world-wide reputation as a manufacturer of stainless steel pressure vessels for the transportation of hazardous liquids and liquified gases. Renowned for the high quality of our specialist stainless steel equipment we enjoy considerable success in both the pharmaceutical and chemicals and the food and beverage industries. |
| Whilst continuing to produce our lightweight Universal Beam Tank, UBH will focus increasingly on more specialist designs for the tank container market including a range of lightweight swap tanks, reefers, high temperature and custom built tanks. |
| As part of a continuing strategy of diversification, UBH International has also recently been developing applications for its particular skills in other specialist areas, such as static storage and process vessels. |
| At the same time UBH International has secured the future of its World-beating standard tank design by forming a global strategic business alliance with China International Marine Containers Ltd, the World's largest manufacturer of freight containers. |
